about
After being scouted by the BBC, and asked to audition for the new TV show 'Little Mix: The Search' (as well as being featured by The Luna Collective, Little Dose of Indie, and Start Track), hopeless romantic Charlie Bennett returns with his single 'Is This Falling?'.
Marking an evolution from his usual minimalistic music production (usually consisting of a live recording of acoustic guitar and vocals), ‘Is This Falling?’ includes a dreamy electric guitar solo, lullaby-like vocal harmonies, and soothing synth chords. “I was heavily inspired by my discovery of Bruno Major during the coronavirus lockdown,” Charlie exclaims, “Bruno Major is the perfect example of a modern day, old-fashioned love song writer. Many people say that all of the best love songs were written decades ago. However, I believe this new generation of artists, who are both more openly diverse in sexuality and have experienced the evolution of dating rituals (e.g. dating apps), are bringing love song writing into the modern age.”
“The classics are still classics, we’re just putting our modern spin on them,” he exclaims, nodding towards the line in ‘Is This Falling?’ - “We’re sat here holding hands on the floor, listening to the ‘Cars 2’ movie score.”
As the coronavirus lockdown eases, Charlie looks forward to his energetic live shows, from his DIY busking performances, to his highly anticipated UK-Germany tour with indie rock band, Process.
lyrics
Is this falling?
I don't know yet
It's too early to tell what you're thinking
Or how I feel
But I like you
That much is true
Could we hold hands and row down the street in a canoe together
I like you, that's true
Well, darling would you hold me?
Kiss me like you told me?
Darling, would you?
Pick me up, up, up
Throw me away
I don't know what to do or what to say
We're sat here holding hands on the floor
Listening to the 'Cars 2' movie score
Darling, would you push me away?
Just to help me lose feelings
Or darling, would you hold me?
Kiss me like you told me?
Darling would you?
